WHAT IS CRANIO SACRAL THERAPY?

“We are shaped by our thoughts; we become what we think. When the mind is pure, joy follows like a shadow that never leaves.” Buddha

Cranio sacral therapy is a gentle hands-on method that releases restrictions in the body, enhances the functioning of the central nervous system and improves health in general. This technique was discovered and perfected by Dr. John Upledger who founded Upledger Institute International in Miami, Florida (US) in 1985  (www.upledger.com). From the United States, this method traveled across the Atlantic and it is now well known for its benefits in Europe as well.

HOW DOES IT WORK?
A cranio sacral therapy treatment usually lasts 45 to 60 min. Patients lie down on the massage table with their clothes on. The method is very gentle, the therapist usually starts with a global evaluation of the patient by a gentle touch and then moves on to the most appropriate treatment for the patient on that specific day.

WHY CRANIO SACRAL THERAPY AND WHAT IS IT GOOD FOR?
This method is non-invasive and enhances the self-healing capacities of the body . When we experience trauma (physical or emotional), the 'scars' of this trauma remain somewhere in the body and they can go on to create some form of discomfort or even pain. This pain can be of a physical or emotional nature. The cranio sacral therapist works with the patient in order to find out where this pain comes from and accompanies the patient onto the path of self-healing. The body wants to heal itself! Sometimes it just needs a little help to find the way!
This kind of therapy can be helpful in the following cases: headaches, stress, irregular sleep, back and neck pain, digestive issues (heartburn, constipation), breathing problems, chronic fatigue, anxiety, post-traumatic stress, concussion. In babies and children,  cranio sacral therapy is helpful in case of torticollis at birth, problems with latching, reflux, concentration problems, dyslexia, dyspraxia, hyperactivity (this list is indicative and not exhaustive).
